These 10 Rape Prevention tips are EVERYTHING!

I saw this image on Facebook and it gave me so much life:

One day, I hope to live in a world where instead of telling people (Read: women and sexual minorities) what to do to protect themselves from being raped, we teach people not to rape and make the sanctions for rape so horrible that people don’t want to rape.

I hope for a day when celebrities don’t get a free pass to rape people because they are deemed too respectable to do such a thing.

I hope for a day when the pornography industry is no more and that the glamorization of rape and degradation disappears from our society.

I hope for a day when male victims of sexual violence can speak out without shame.

I hope for a day when a woman’s sexual history isn’t used against her in the court of law or the court of public opinion.

I hope for a day when people learn that it is possible to excercise self-control and only engage in sexual activity with people who are enthusiastically willing.

I hope for a day when society stops believing the lie that sex crimes are a fact of life. They are a fact of life for many, but it doesn’t have to that way.

Rape prevention starts with telling people not to rape.
